I have studied the enclosed rhythm strip with great interest.
Allthough you have not stated the heart rate (it’s a bit
diffucult to judge on my graphics viewer) I would suggest a
bradycardia (?).
You have two alternate complexes. The narrow ones should be
supraventricular and the others I would guess originating from
the ventricles, PVC’s, suggesting a ventricular bigemminy.
More interesting is the P-QRS interval whitch is not constant,
and even seem to move into the QRS-complex. From the relative
short strip it is a bit risky, but my humble suggestion would be
that you have an atrio-ventricular block, grade 3 (total
AV-block) with ventricular bigemminy.
If your patient is on digoxin or digitoxin, you have allready
looked at his blood levels, as ventricular bigemminy and (also)
junctional and other forms of block may indicate toxic values of
these drugs.
I’m just a nurse working at a cardiac care unit in Norway. I see
this more like a challenge than an "experts view", and would
like to read other comments. It would be great if we could use
this group to discuss interesting and intriguing strips from time
to time. I look forward to see more strips on sci.med.cardiology.
Best regards.

Any experience with chelation therapy ?
Monday, August 31st, 2009 Hi all,
I’ve only been recently reading this newsgroup, and it’s been
tremendously interesting so far. The cause of this interest is
my father’s recent heart attack and subsequent diagnosis of coronary
heart disease (three blockages: 1 complete, 2 partial). Since then,
I’ve been trying to educate myself on the subject as much as possible.
What I’d like to know now from netters worldwide is if anybody has
tried chelation therapy for this, and what their experience has been.
If anybody could recommend an expert physician to talk to, I’d really
appreciate that also. And I need this information as soon as possible,
because we need to make a decision soon whether to go in for bypass
surgery.
Please post to this newsgroup, or e-mail directly to ssree…@ford.com.
Thanks in advance !
Sreedhar.

tachycardia & estrogen deficiency
Monday, August 31st, 2009 Can anyone direct me to references for studies relating tachycardia to
estrogen deficiency? I have, on my own, come to the conclusion that
estrogen deficiency could be the cause of my recent acute experiences with
SVT and once, atrial fibrulation which may have started as SVT.
Heart problem – sick sinus syndrom
Monday, August 31st, 2009 I would appreciate any information you could give me about a heart problem
called sick sinus syndrom. My mom is 50 and her doctor says she has this
condition. They are recommending a pace maker ASAP.
I am really worried and since I am far away from her it would help me a lot if
I understood this illness. Anyone?
