Weird Disease

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

My Mom is 60 years old and is in China right now.  She has some
weird disease that no doctor can explain so far.  The disease
causes her so much pain everyday that we are desperately looking
for someone can help identify and cure the disease.

Description:
My Mom has high blood pressure for about 20 years and has mild
coronary heart disease.  On August 26, 1995, she was hospitalized
because of auricular fibrillation.  She was released from the
hospital 20 days later.  In that evening, she suddenly started
to hear extremely loud humming in her right ear.  Since then she
has the following symptoms: (1) Every other day she feel a sound
within her head and this sound lasts for 24-36 hours in her head.
(2) She describes the sound as the one from a flying flying plane,
the thunder, or the tides. (3) The sound sometimes comes from the
top of the head, sometimes from the sides, but the most frequently
it comes from the right side. (4) Each time before the sound returns,
she feels blocking or/and pressure in her ears.
She has no headache, dizziness, nor vomit when the sound is in progress,
but she cannot goto sleep, has no appetite, and losses weight.

Tests
She had the following tests and results:
1. Electric Courstic (Normal)
2. Inner Ear X-ray (Normal)
3. Sound Transduction Resistant (Normal)
4. CBA   (Right side coratic artery)
5. ABR   (Normal)
6. NMR   (Normal)
7. Blood Viscosity (Normal)

Treatment:
She has been taking two types of medicines:
1. Tranquilizer helping her to get some sleep
2. Vascular dilation medicine

Financial Aid for CHD

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

I recently posted about my daughter’s CHD and now am wondering what kind
of financial assistance might be available for her if any.  I can’t
imagine that my insurance would be willing for me to take her out of
state for surgery if that is what we decide to do.

GUSTO III study

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Hi all,

Our hospital is participating in the GUSTO III study.  GUSTO stands for
"Global Use of Strategies To Open Occluded Arteries).  The purpose of this
study is to evaluate an experimental clot dissolving medication (r-PA,
reteplase), compared with t-PA (alteplase) in the treatment of heart
attacks.  I think the study started last summer.  I would like to get some
information regarding this study and couldn’t locate anything in our
library.  Would someone out there tell me if they have read anything about
this study in any magazine or journal articles.   Any information given
will be appreciated.

Defibrillators

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

My question is, what voltage or Amps do defibrillators send to a
patient’s heart? I was just wondering, because won’t there be entry and
exit burns if you shoot high voltage throw a human body? Or does it have
a low Amps or current. I dont know. Hope someone can clear this up for
me.

Thanks again.

Physician Recommendation – Phoenix

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Our 7-month old son was born with tetralogy of Fallot and had surgery in New York City last December at three months of age.  We are moving to Phoenix at the end of April and would like to know if anyone could recommend a good pediatric cardiologist there.
