in a word, hypertrophy.  an easily understood example would be how
body builders get their biceps muscles to "grow" or bulk up.  increase
the strain a muscle has to work against and it will compensate by
becoming bigger (hypertrophy).  this is not a good thing for the heart
because the heart is a muscle that is built for endurance.  body
builders don’t make very good marathon runners.

Klonopin and PAC's

Friday, February 26th, 2010

My doctor recently prescribed klonopin for a recurring problem that I
have with PACs.  He believes that my "fight-flight" system is too geared
up and is causing too much adrenalin (norepinephrin I believe) in my
system.  Since taking the Klonopin I haven’t noticed that much of a
reduction in PAC’s.  I do however sleep really well, and I’m definitely
more relaxed.

Today I tried to not take a beta-blocker to see how things would work
out.  It didn’t work so well.  I had a signficant number of PACs.  So I
just took 25 mg of atenolol, and within 15 minutes the PACs were gone.

For those of you who are cardiologists out there, how long does it take
generally for the fight-flight system to begin to calm itself down and
get back to a more regulated form.  My doctor said it doesn’t take too
much for a heightened adrenalin output to mess things up.  Anyone ever
used this method of treatment to get rid of PACs?

He’s also considering putting me on serzone?

Anyone try that with any success?

Thanks for you help.

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Hello;

I am a nurse/emt. I have little to no practice with strips. I am
wondering if there is a informal email group that has strips sent out
and discussions are held over them. If so I would appriciate data/
information on such a group. Thank you

pectoral discomfort

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Had bypass 7 years ago – everything appeared to be ok. No problems of
any kind. Since that time, I have been on a low
fat diet and excersize on a regular basis.
About 2 – 3 months ago, began having intermittant burning sensation in
my left pectoral (inside half of the pectoral area, closest to the
center of my chest). Sometime more of a feeling of pressure being put on

the area rather than a burning sensation. No other symtoms of any kind.
Reviewed this with my cardio – had an ectocardiagram, everything ok. Had

a thallium stress test, everything ok. My cardio (who I feel is very
competent) says that it appears to be one of the "rings" in my chest
that was used to close – apparently
causing an irritation of some kind in the pectoral area.
Has anyone else had this kind of an issue? If so, would be interested in

hearing about your experiences, etc.
Thanks in advance

congestive heart failure

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Hi,

        http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/2571/jonsplace.htm

This is a support and information forum for those with congestive heart
failure and those who’s loved one has CHF. Message boards, chat room,
medical studies, drug trials, carefully selected WWW links and CHF from
patients’ perspectives. Also includes information on and discussion of
minerals, vitamins, nutrients, alternative therapies, surgeries and
doctors.
Also includes up to the minute info on the Batista procedure from Dr. P.
McCarthy, who has done more ventricular remodelings than any other USA
surgeon. Thank you, Dr. McCarthy.
I have CHF (EF=13%), and maintain the site. Everyone interested in CHF is
welcome, including doctors, nurses and other medical professionals, but
this is a non-commercial site and is geared to people with the condition or
those whose loved one has CHF.
A site index is located at the URL in my signature. Thanks,

ventricular inversion

Friday, February 26th, 2010

My 8 week old son was just diagnosed with ventricular inversion.  His
doctor has answered my immediate concerns, but I would like more info for
my own peace of mind – - I’m having a hard time finding anything on this
disorder.  If anyone has any info, or knows where I can find some
information on this, please, please, e-mail me at Kar…@aol.com.   Thanks.
