I am a Swedish man married to a woman from the Philippines. The last six
months my wife’s sister (Jocelyn) has been visiting us here.
One month ago she (Jocelyn) got chest pains and was confined to hospital
for a week.
She was diagnosed having "primary pulmonell hypertension".
The pressure in the right side of her heart was 70 (normal should be
10).
The treatment she gets is the medicin Adalat Oros (60 mg twice a day).
The medicine seems to work well, the pressure has dropped to around 45
after four weeks of treatment.
My questions are as follows:
1. What are the most serious side-effects with Adalat? Are there any
known risks for infarcts or other serious complications?
2. What about Adalat and pregnancy?
2. One side-effect Jocelyn is suffering from is pain in her feet
(especially during nighttime). At times the pain is hard for her to
bear. Are there any known ways or methods to lessen this side-effect?
3. Any other important advices or thoughts would also be greatly
appreciated.
4. If possible….Jocelyn would appreciate very much to get in touch
with other persons suffering from the same disease.
Thanks for helping us!
Ronny Andersson.
