What is the latest info on the Seldane-Cardio connection. I havd been
taking Seldane for a few years when I had my heart attack. I would like to
follow up on this event. Thanks Len

One of the metabolites of Seldane can cause a prolongation of the QT
interval (repolarization phase) thus leading to an increased risk of
serious ventricular arrhythmias. This risk may be partly genetic and
partly due to drug interactions with ketaconazole, erythromycin,
cisapride, etc. Now that the "safe" metabolite of Seldane is
commercially available, and eliminates the problem from the start, it
is generally safer to switch to Allegra or even Claritin for relief.
Hismanol shares similar risks with Seldane, and so I’ve stopped
prescribing it. H2

the lastest information is that Seldane affected the heart’s rythm and
not the condition of the arteries that lead to a heart attack.
Continuation of Seldane should be discussed with your Doctor as a newer
drug offers the benefits of Seldane without the cardiovascular
sideaffects.
